  • hmm..

why is it that digital photography is now the "IN" thing but digital video isn't?

for example, at weddings - wouldn't you rather have a video that you can watch, over and over again... than a photo that doesn't move?

and what about children? surely you'd rather have a video of  your child talking, smiling, moving around - than just a picture.

i could see beautiful digital videos being created... ~~~

    1. Money
    2. Skill
    3. Time

  • i know, but it'll only be a matter of time..

  • @lilniteanngel - You're a bad influence. I feel like purchasing a digital camcorder.

  • you seem to have missed the boat...  flip video made a splash with cheap video recording and cisco bought them.  and take the fact that every compact camera takes video, and now even dslr's take video.  i wouldn't even think digital photography is the in thing now.  it was in with flickr a long time ago, then youtube took over?  and weddings do have a videographer if they can afford it.  i guess wedding photography is just easier and cheaper.
i'm giving you 0 eprops for posting a lame thought :P
i'd give myself -100 eprops for writing this all out because who really cares about what i think?  :)

  • @HappyLemming - u should! what would u record?

  • @andywangme - i still got 2 eprops

i know that cameras take video; it's just that people are always taking engagement photos / wedding photos... but they're not hiring camera people.  just wondering why they're doing that, that's all.

  • @HappyLemming - paper bag floating around type?

  • Hahahahaha.  Good points!  =D  But, I'm glad I didn't get any video footage.  I shudder when I think of my wedding.....>_<  Too many mushy parts and of me crying!!  EWWWW!!! I think kid footage is important though cuz it's embarrassing them, not me!! (I hope!) =P

  • @starlighthope - lol! silly~ you looked wonderful! and surely you'll look back on those "mushy parts" and be like "awwww" a few years from now. lol.

  • yeah video's are fun to have but get overplayed at times, then gets boring. Then there's the hd camcorders nowdays that I really want. unlimited possibilities.

  • it might be because people find photos more practical.

they can put them up around the house, at work, and in their purses/wallets.  they can't do the same with videos, especially without making the time commitment.

  • The big issue, in my opinion, is the amount of information in the digital image.  The high resolution digital video (which still requires tapes) is losing out to flash storage methods because the latter are much more convenient.  That means the actual image quality of video is usually much lower than what you can easily and cheaply get with still digital photos.  You'll also want to buy some terabyte external hard drives.

  • @CreativeMinority - true, true.  although, nowadays, one can always upload to youtube!

@badboyprofessor - ahh yes.  that is a good point.  those hd camcorders are pretty nice though... but yes, expensive.  hopefully, our technology will catch up soon.
