Excited!! :-)
I'm taking a graduate-level course at Berkeley, and I had this super-long 30-page final paper due. Basically, we could either write a paper on a previously done cost-benefit analysis, or we can choose to conduct our own.
I choose to conduct my own, on a topic that was dear to my heart. Today, I received a note from the professor saying:
"Anna - this is an impressive beginning. You could easily turn this [paper] into a PhD or Masters dissertation, and could eventually publish.... [etc, etc,] Mostly, I just want to encourage you to follow up on this topic. It is very important."
Yes... I will... once I get in.. ^_^
(I really hope I will. I still remember all the rejection letters I got 3 years ago, and it was an absolute nightmare.

good job!
i'm glad you're able to work with a professor who supports your work and believes in you.
Cool... Will we ever read it too...
Very cool! What was the paper on???
Yes, what is the topic?
@SoullFire - @arenadi - a cost-benefit model for large-scale government projects. basically, governments around the world have a limited amount of dollars to spend on projects.
what's the most effective way to spend that money, to make the biggest impact? this model (if used correctly), can answer questions like - which areas should we target (using GIS)? which cleanup / delivery method should we use? what media should we address (surface water, groundwater, or soil) ?
@CreativeMinority - yes!!!
I am really excited about it!!!
@SuperRat - If I ever publish it, of course you can read it!
This is great.
Did this professor read your paper before they wrote their letter of recommendation? Did you get one from them? If not, you can still ask (letters are accepted after the application deadline; we're often late).
@badboyprofessor - Yes.
He will write one soon
