Desktop Background
This is a picture of the Citarum River in Indonesia. It's one of the most polluted rivers in the world, and a population of approximately 5 million live around it. [More images here]
It inspires me to work harder. It reminds me of one of my goals: to make the world a better, cleaner place for all.
What is your desktop background.. and how does it inspire you?

It was taken at a small village near Mr Fuji during my trip to Japan last year. It's supposed to remind of the simple, quiet life.
@Agent_Eric - nice!! i like it.
that water looks really clean. lol.
I think it's pretty cool. But think about it: Without corporate maleficence, you wouldn't have this awesome wallpaper. Good comes out of pollution too.
My wallpaper is of a nude blonde pornstar. I have it for its aestheticism.
That's insane.
It makes me think of the big continent-sized mass of garbage floating in the middle of the pacific ocean.
@arenadi - yea, the pacific gyre is pretty disgusting too. it's incredible...
thats a lot of trash
My inspiration is that asshole Jake who's keeping me from going home.
o_o;; that looks really unreal >_<;;.
@whoosh90 - unfortunately, it's real. one of the most polluted rivers in the world..
@lilniteanngel - Where does all the litter come from!? Do they not have dump sites? I can't even see the water there O_O;;.
@whoosh90 - You're close!
"More than 500 factories, many of them producing textiles which
require chemical treatment, line the banks of the 200-mile river,
the largest waterway in West Java, spewing waste into the
water.
On top of the chemicals go all the other kinds of human detritus
from the factories and the people who work there.
There is no such luxury as a rubbish collection service here.
Nor are there any modern toilet facilities. Everything goes into
the river.
The filthy water is sucked into the rice paddies, while families
risk their health by collecting it for drinking, cooking and
washing."

It makes me sick to think that people collect it for drinking, cooking, washing. I wouldn't even want to smell it.. let alone touch it.
The good news? They got a $500M loan to clean it up in 2008... not sure how it looks like now.
@lilniteanngel - That is really really bad :/, seeing as this short term solution will cause many long term problems!! Destroying land, healthy people, etc etc :/. I'm glad they took a loan out to attempt to sort it out though...that amount of waste cannot be good at all :/.Guess it reminds us not to take our clean water for granted right? So so blessed here.
Are you from the UK...? I don't think so...seeing as you spell honour without a 'u' and say "honors class" you're from the US right? So...why're you reading the daily mail? XD
@whoosh90 - Americans read the daily mail too. :-p Do you ever read cnn? :-p
@lilniteanngel - nopes. XP.
