Well, recently...

"The Journal Sentinel reviewed 258 scientific studies of the chemical
bisphenol A, a compound detected in the urine of 93% of Americans
recently tested. An overwhelming majority (80%) of these studies show that
the chemical is harmful - causing breast cancer, testicular cancer,
diabetes, hyperactivity, obesity, low sperm counts, miscarriage and a host of other reproductive failures in laboratory animals."

"But U.S. regulators side with the chemical-makers and say it's safe."

Earthlings is a 2005 multi-award winning documentary written, produced and directed by Shaun Monson and co-produced by Persia White. The film was narrated by Hollywood actor and animal rights activist Joaquin Phoenix. Earthlings also features an original score by musician and activist Moby.

IFRS over GAAP: "Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Christopher Cox, in a
speech last week, quashed any doubts that the regulator will one day
allow U.S. companies to use international financial reporting standards
rather than GAAP. The SEC is working on a road map for transitioning U.S. companies to
the global rules, he told members of the European-American Business
Council."

Yuck, pension accounting *shudders from the horror*: "FASB and IASB are plugging away on the standards that are the most
difficult to converge so far, including pension and lease accounting,
revenue recognition, and financial-statement presentation. "I want to
get a single set of high-quality standards, and I'd like to do it
within a reasonable time frame," Herz told CFO.com. That time frame
could be between 5 and 10 years from now."

When will this happen? "According to DJ Gannon, a Deloitte & Touche partner, large
companies will need 18 months to two years of preparation to change
over from GAAP to IFRS. He believes it would be possible for the SEC to
give 2011 as the year for making such a change, at least for large
companies, while other accounting experts have said 2013 to 2015 could
be doable for smaller companies."

printed on materials from the Earth.


Most cultures deal with that "giving" with gratitude -- they ascribe it
to God, and go to churches and temples to thank the creator. On the
metaphysical level, that is all very well. On the physical level,
however, how many cultures or religions give back to the Earth?
(Jainism is one, but you won't find many others.) What have I, you, we
done recently to help the Earth be healthy? Even if you don't believe
the Earth is a living being, surely you can appreciate the damage done
through pollution and the physical depletion of resources."

1 full time job + 3 classes + 1 boyfriend = busy

I'm starting to realize that I absolutely LOVE being busy.   It's stressful, yes, but oh-so-fulfilling. 

I also plan to start my own business and incorporate myself by the end of this year....  hopefully.

Call me a nerd, but I like Ask Pablo.  He answers "sustainability" questions like "Paper or plastic?" "Real tree or artificial tree?" using numbers.

I can't vouch for the accuracy or reliability of his numbers, but I like it.

On another note, I'm checked in and ready go to go HK, Macau, China and (maybe Hainan Island). Yay!
